Halloween Window Fun

All props for this Halloween window were made from card and paper and by hand, inspired by red riding hood I created this window set in a childish and fun way but with the execution of an adult. I had great fun making masks and the huntsman's axe with nothing but paper, scissors, glue and a low budget.

Inspiration came from old fairytale book illustrations of 'Little Red Riding Hood';

Colour Blocking In A Winter Way

Colour blocking and working with different shades of one colour is a really simple but effective tool to use when styling, heres a result of my own recent window;

Mens Winter Window Styling

Its all about layers and using bright jewel colours to catch peoples eyes but keeping the styling winterised with scarves, layers of knitwear, shirts and hoodies/cardigans under winter coats. These are a few of my favourite mens outfits I have recently styled;

Tim Walker

Tim Walkers Story Telling exhibition at Somerset House is a MUST see. You really do get transformed into his fantastical world with not only pictures on show but also the props used in his poetic photographs -

The book is definitely going to be on my wish list....

Frieze Art Fair

I went to Frieze Art Fair last weekend and saw some really interesting pieces and some more not so interesting pieces of work trying to pass as "contemporary art". However, I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and I would definitely recommend contemporary art lovers alike to experience the experience that is Frieze.

The following images are of pieces that I found particularly inspiring...

Great Typography pieces;

A really interesting use of the everyday object that is the office blind, I thought this piece in particular would make a really interesting idea for a window display concept;

Some beautiful textile based pieces, as a stylist I am always working with clothing and I am always drawn to tangible pieces and textured surfaces as well as colours and yarns;

Rugs and light shades;

Abstract and painterly themes ran throughout the fair;

A miniature man, this piece was particularly delightful;

And of course a pink walrus;

Sailor Sailor

A few shots of my sailing windows done for American Apparel. I sourced the props from sailing stores down by embankment and a great sailing prop store in Covent Garden and styled the mannequins in fitting outfits.

Game - Match - Point

A light hearted tennis olympic window theme I put together in a day for American Apparel's Portobello road store during the Olympics. Tennis balls were suspended in mid-air behind the mannequins as a simple backdrop and mannequins were styled in neon, navy and white.

NOT JUST A LABEL

Over the last month I have also been working at NOT JUST A LABEL within their online shop curation team, it is a great website that supports new up and coming designers and is well worth a look at as there are some beautiful pieces from avant garde designers from all over the world. Here are a few screen shots of images of pieces that I helped curate during my time there -
